AIT 2.1 Readme Release notes for the AIT Software. Included in the release note is the minimum requirements for the APPROVAL HOST PC and Rotation/Tiling Separate PC, AIT CD contents, installation instructions, some configuration tips, and known issues. APPROVAL Host Minimum Requirements: ----------------------------------- -KODAK APPROVAL HOST Software V1.4 with R1 update or V1.5. Rotation/Tiling PC Minimum Hardware Requirements --------------------------------------- -Two 1.5GHz (or greater)Intel Xeon processors -512 MB RDRAM -2 36 GB SCSI hard disk drives -2 10/100 Base-T ENTHERNET cards/ports -Network crossover Cables Rotation/Tiling PC Minimum Software Requirements ------------------------------------------------ -MICROSOFT WINDOWS 2000 Professional with Service Pack 2 AIT CD Contents: ---------------- -AIT 2.1 software For separate Rotation and Tiling PC and KODAK APPROVAL HOST installations. -KODAK APPROVAL Interface Toolkit User's Manual: -Doc AIT V2.1 User Manual.pdf -Hasp_Driver Aladdin HASP Driver Version 4.13 The utility is for installing and removing the Hasp driver. -Laser Tables The AIT is capable of connecting four different RIP's to the KODAK APPROVAL. Each of the RIP's will use a unique laser table. These unique Laser tables were developed to optimize RIP screening to image quality. -Laser Tables Agfa: AGBS2400.bdf AGBS2540.bdf Delta: HDSS2400.bdf HDSS2540.bdf PCC: PCCW2400.bdf PCCW2540.bdf Prinergy: CSPR2400.bdf CSPR2540.bdf -Images The images are for testing the four different workflows after AIT configuration. The workflow and file formats are: Agfa - Modified TIFF/.ini, Pack Bit compressed files Delta - TIFF/.ini non-compressed files PCC - DCS2 single, Pack Bit compressed file Prinergy - DCS2 single, RLE compressed file Also included is the Quark source file and Postscript source file. The Quark file can be used to test the entire workflow from inception to proofing. The Postscript file can be used to test from RIP to proofer. -Images Continued There are two PS files on the CD to test tiling and rotation. Images\PS_Image 25x38_landscape.ps 25x38_protrait.ps -VNC Software and Documentation ------------------------------ VNC\VNC_Install_AIT.exe VNC\Installing and configuring VNC.pdf AIT Installation Instructions: ------------------------------ 1. Start Host PC and log on as Administrator. 2. Insert AIT software CD into the CD ROM drive. 3. Open Explorer and navigate to the AIT CD. 4. Refer to AIT User's Manual for the rest of the install instructions. 5. Install AIT 2.1 as per User's Manual instructions. Recipe Naming Conventions ------------------------- -The AIT can except the following recipe naming conventions: Pantone 385 XXX PMS 385 XXX -Where xxx is for the different Pantone suffixes HotFolder Setup Reminder ------------------------ -Select only one file type extension to trigger on. If two file type extensions are selected, a Doctor Watson error occur, causing AIT to stop. Known AIT Issues ------------------- Installation: ------------- -During installation on the APPROVAL Host PC, AIT tiling and rotation can be installed if the operator clicks on "No" in the "Device and Location Information" window. The operator would have to follow the rest of the separate PC installation instructions to get AIT tiling and rotation functional. -Tiling and Rotation on the Host PC can cause proofing problems. Tiff/DCS2 Viewing ------------ -Tiff and DCS2 file can be viewed when AIT is in the Streamer and Plane By Plane mode only. -Viewing of spot colors within AIT is for size and placement only. -All viewing tools are not working properly and may cause AIT to crash. - All separation Viewing tools - Color Simulation table - Zoom in and Zoom out Tiff/.ini template --------------------- -Previous created Tiff/.ini template file can be edited and save to a new location if needed. -If the cyan-ruling field is changed the rest of the colors ruling fields will follow cyan ruling field change. If any other color ruling field is changed only that ruling field is changed. HotFolders ---------- -If AIT Hot Folder mechanism encounters a problem with a "One Bit TIFF" file, AIT will display an error message. Once the operator acknowledges the error, AIT Hot Folder mechanism will continue with the next job in the input folder. The job that failed will remain in the input folder. AIT will not act upon this job until the Hot Folder mechanism is deactivated then activated. The operator will need to manually delete the problem job in the input folder when this occur. -If Cancel is selected when Show Export Setup window open or during tiling/rotation, AIT Hot Folder will stop Sending and Tiling/Rotating jobs. To recover, do the following: Deactivate the Hot Folder Exit AIT Launch AIT Activate Hot Folders Donor Mapping ------------- The AIT is unable to handle user defined input separation names. Rotation and Tiling Hot Folder Setup ------------------------------------ -Rotation and Tiling Results Hot Folder needs to be setup first to synchronize Donor Mapping and Lay Down Order selections to the Rotation and Tiling Hot Folder setup. -If Rotation and Tiling Hot Folder is setup first and Donor Mapping and Lay Down Order selections are other than default setting. When the operator is finished setting up the Rotation and Tiling Hot Folder and clicks on OK to close the Hot Folder setup window, the Hot Folder setup window jumps to the Output Tab of the Hot Folder setup window. At this point AIT should have display an Error message warning the operator to create a Rotation and Tiling Results Hot Folder with the same Donor Mapping and Lay Down Order selections, but it doesn’t at this time. -Workaround 1 On the Output Tab of the Rotation and Tiling Hot Folder setup deactivate the Rotation and Tiling then click OK 2 Create the Rotation and Tiling results Hot Folder Setup. Note: Make sure you select the same Donor Mapping and Lay Down Order as in Rotation and Tiling Hot Folder setup. 3 Open Rotation and Tiling Hot Folder setup and Activate the Rotation and Tiling then click OK. 4 AIT is ready to Rotate and Tile images Recipe Colors During Transfer ----------------------------- Sometimes recipe colors are not correctly represented on AIT Viewer during transfers. Donor Lay Dowan Order --------------------- -AIT uses Donor Order Lay Down instead of Color Lay Down Order. All recipe color over prints will be buried within the CMYK donor lay down order. See "doc\Donor_laydown_example.pdf" file for example of Donor Lay Down order with recipe color over print.
